Hundreds of people from across the border rampaged through the small village and threatened the villagers to quit the place. The Khasi intruders allegedly destroyed their farm and threatened them of terrible consequences. The troubled area is within the jurisdiction of Jirikindeng police station of West Karbi Anglong district.

Headmen of the troubled village Phangcho and Ronghang later informed the local media that on that day, hundreds of Khasi people from neighboring Mojem, Sopiang, Molain, Mi bhar and Behjhur village encroached in their village and destroyed betel nut trees, bamboos groves, Cinnamon tree, banana groves, Sandal wood, lemon and stink bean trees and warned them that their houses will be burned down if they do not quote from the village.

The village headmen have said that the interlopers were fully backed by Meghalaya police, administrative officials and members of Khasi Students Union. They have vehemently criticized the passive role of Assam police who remained mere spectator during unfolding of the frightening episode.
