Girish Karnad Is No More

Veteran Bollywood actor and filmmaker Girish Karnad passed away on Monday morning in Bengaluru. He was 81. Karnad was last seen in Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017.

At the age of 81, Girish Karnad, a versatile film actor and director, playwright and voice for social issues died after a prolonged illness in Bengaluru.

Karnad was a recipient of Jnanpith award, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan besides the prestigious national Filmfare award four times. Who doesn’t remember the “Malgudi Days” and his acting as Swami’s father was a real-life experience portrayed so beautifully. 

He debuts film in Kannada movie ‘Samskara’ (1970), which is one of his best had won him the first President’s Golden Lotus Award for Kannada cinema.

His contribution to Art and culture is immense and deep-rooted.

The country will remember Girish Karnad for many many years to come.
