Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme Girl Child Day for the month of August 2019 was observed on the 10th of August at Sacred Heart School, Mon Town. The resource person for the programme was Ponglem Konyak who is a winner of multiple bravery awards. She valiantly fought off some miscreants back in 1995 for which she was awarded the Bravery Award by the Governor of Nagaland on January 26, 1998.

The programme was chaired by Ngepshom Konyak, Women Welfare Officer, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK)/District Level Centre for Women (DLCW), Mon. Olem, District Coordinator. The women welfare officer spoke on the main aims and objectives of the MSK. Three boys and three girls from Sacred Heart School voluntarily spoke on the theme ‘Girl Child Day’ and were given prizes.

The programme was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with MSK Mon under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme. District Administration would observe the Girl Child Day every month in a different school.
