Government will protect citizen from militants: Manipur CM

Imphal : Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh along with his cabinet colleague and MLAs interacted with the media at the CM Secretariat here at Imphal today. He highlighted that the Government of Manipur is continuously in touch with PMO and Home Ministry and almost 40000 central forces have been deployed to restore peace and security in the state.

He appealed to the people and all the stakeholders to give peace a chance and not to get into any mob violence. Both state and Central Governments will protect citizens from militants he assured. Referring to the fringe elements he said that there are some militants in the state who are not in SoO and they are the ones who are doing all the killings.

Stating that the Government of India has clearly articulated that the integrity of the state will not be disturbed in any form and it is only a few greedy politicians who are creating all the problems in the state.

He also stated that the Government will help rehabilitate people who lost houses and those whose documents such as Aadhar, Ration Card, driving licenses, etc are lost will be reissued at the earliest where all the MLAs are going to help them restore the same along with Government officials.

Stating that there will be no pay for no work, the government employees have to attend office and those who are unable to attend can work through e-office.

He also stated that it is on the instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stationed himself in Manipur for three days and that his government is in constant touch with the PMO. Narendra Modi’s government has released Rs.100 crore and is monitoring the situation.

About the restoration of the internet, he said that as emotions are running high it will be unwise to restore the internet service and people need to bear a few more days. About people with arms, he stated that there will be strict action and once again appealed that citizens should not take the law into their own hands. 

He assured that education institutions will start soon and those institutions where relief camps are stationed will be shifted.Echoing that PM Modi is very much concerned about the happenings he reiterated that the central government is monitoring the situation and Amit Shah is being deputed by Modi to make normalcy the first priority, echoed N. Biren Singh.
