Global Tiger Day is observed across the world on 28th July. This day is observed every year to create awareness about tiger conservation and protection of the natural habitat of tigers.
The Global Tiger Day is being celebrated across the world, with the goal to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today stated that India is one of the safest habitats in the world with 3000 tigers. While releasing the All India Tiger Estimation 2018 on the occasion of Global Tiger Day in New Delhi, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment towards protecting the tiger and taking all possible steps required.
During the occasion, he said the results of this tiger census would make every Indian, and every nature lover happy. In the last five years, both forest and number of Protected Areas have increased in the country.
He said it is possible to strike a healthy balance between development and environment conservation. He also expressed joy that India has achieved the target of doubling the tiger population four years early ahead of 2022.
The Prime Minister applauded the efforts of all stakeholders, for the speed and dedication with which they have worked to achieve this is a remarkable target. He cited this as one of the finest examples of Sankalp Se Sidhhi.
The Prime Minister stated that India will build more homes for citizens and create quality habitats for animals at the same time. Modi added that India will prosper both economically and environmentally.
