Government Schools in Delhi Celebrates Happiness Utsav

The Delhi Government launched “Happiness Utsav” in schools under its directorate on Tuesday to celebrate completion of a year of introduction of its ‘happiness curriculum’.

As Joseph Addison once said ‘’ True happiness arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of one’s self.’’

The Delhi Government had launched a happiness curriculum in its school last year.

In order to celebrate the completion of one year of its new curriculum, the Delhi government have launched its ‘Happiness Utsav’ on 16th July, Tuesday. This festival will continue for 15 days and culminate in a grand ceremony.

During this festival, the students of all government schools of Delhi will participate in a 50 min activity program during the first half of each day.

The Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia was a part of the Happiness Utsav.  He encouraged the students to participate in drawing mela where the topic was ‘ What makes you happy?’ He feels that such activities will motivate the children to resonate with their emotions and thought process.

Lakh of children from different government schools all around the state from Ist to VIII standards sat on their respective school assemblies to take part in the activities. 

During this 15 days festival period, the morning assemblies and the first period will be combined to conduct various activities. Different activities like plays, poems, exhibitions will be part of the festival.

The programme will include a panel discussion in different classes where there will be discussions on issues such as “What ensures happiness for children” and “what it means to be compassionate towards others”.
