Governor Kateria visits Diphu

Diphu :  Gulab Chand Kataria the 31st Governor of Assam who hails from Udaipur, Rajasthan was in Diphu for a day’s visit. The Governor arrived here in Jan Shatabdi Express during morning hours and visited the Karbi Cultural centre Taralangso located in the fringe of Diphu town.

This is his maiden visit in the sixth schedule region of Assam; the call is considered significant as Governor of Assam is the constitutional head of the Sixth Schedule region of the state. 

The Governor was accorded a warm welcome at Diphu railway station by Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang after the ceremonial Guard of Honor presented by a contingent of Assam Police.

Gulab Chand Kataria told the media that all interstate border issues of Assam will be resolved with the neighboring states through mutual dialogue. 

Regarding the reorganization of the MLA and Parliamentary constituencies of Assam he said that, Election Commission of India is the competent authority and it has resolved the issue agreeably. Replying on the long awaiting Autonomous State issue the Governor said that discussion is going on this pending demand.

The Governor held an official review meeting with the public representatives of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and  heads of thirty departments at the majestic auditorium housed inside Arboretum cum Craft Centre. 

He also had an interactive session with the beneficiaries of various schemes sponsored by the central and state government. Few political and social organizations met with the governor after the review meeting.

Before his departure by the same Jan Satabdi Express he visited the newly instated Diphu Medical College and Hospital and interacted with the students and management, he appreciated the effort of the government for introducing the scope of medical education in the hills of Assam.
