The government will extend the deadline for comments and suggestions on draft National Education Policy 2019 by one month.  Earlier, the last date for citizens and other stakeholders to send suggestions was the 30th of this month.

Replying to supplementaries in Rajya Sabha, Human Resources Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that it is an important issue and there has been extensive discussion over the policy for the last four years by the ministry. He said the centre will extend the date to get more suggestions on it.

Earlier, TMC MP Derek O’Brien raised the issue claiming that state governments have not been consulted over the policy.

The Draft National Education Policy proposes an education policy, which seeks to address the challenges of access,  equity,  quality, affordability and accountability faced by the current education system.
