Guwahati bound Bikaner-Guwahati Express (15633) gt derailed near New Domohani station under Alipurduar Jn division of NF railway around 42 km from New Jalpaiguri Station. The accident took place around 5 PM on Thursday. Around 12 coaches got derailed and two capsized. There were about 1053 passengers on board at the time of the derailment.

Senior Railway officials along with Accident Relief Train from New Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar rushed towards the accident site and started relief and rescue operations.

Rescue operation is already completed at the filing of this report. Stranded passengers are being provided with food and water from the train pantry and the arrangement for their transshipment is arranged by alternative trains. Some trains are diverted through alternate routes.

I spoke to Hon’ble West Bengal CM Smt @MamataOfficial ji to inquire about the Bikaner-Guwahati Express mishap.

She assured to provide all help & assistance on ground and also keep us posted on the ongoing situation. I thank her for offering all her support to the victims.
