This is for the first time the Film Fare Awards will be held out of Mumbai.
The 65th edition of Filmfare Awards will be held at Guwahati on 15th February, 2020.
On 25th November the MoU was signed between Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), Government of Assam and The Times Group for hosting the award ceremony. Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam and Managing Director of Times Group Vineet Jain were present.
Chief Minister Sonowal stated ‘A momentous day for us, as Guwahati, the Gateway to South East Asia, is all set to host the 65th Film Fare Awards on 15th February, 2020.
Vineet Jain complimenting Sonowal echoed ‘It’s our privilege to bring Film Fare Awards 2020 to the beautiful city of Guwahati. Thanks to the vision of Sarbananda Sonwal who wants to make Assam a hub of south east Asia’.
It is to be noted that Chief Minister Sonowalin August this year informed that the Government of Assam sanctioned ₹ 300 crore for development of Assam Tourism in the Assam Budget 2019 and to promote the state as a global tourist destination, the Government is exploring the possibility of hosting the Film Fare Awards in Guwahati.
This is for the first time the Film Fare Awards will be held out of Mumbai.
