Guwahati :  Intense rainfall has led to severe waterlogging in several parts of Guwahati city including Anil Nagar and Chandmari areas, while significantly disrupting normal life.

Streets are submerged, causing difficulties for residents and commuters. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted continued rainfall throughout the week, indicating that the city may face further challenges in the coming days.

Local authorities are urged to take immediate measures to manage the situation and minimize inconvenience to the public.

Over the past 24 hours, relentless torrential rains have caused a dramatic rise in the water levels of the Brahmaputra River and its major tributaries across Assam, exceeding the warning level. This surge has disrupted both road and rail communication in the northeastern region due to landslides and persistent rain threats.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a grave warning, highlighting the imminent risk of flash floods in Assam and Meghalaya as the heavy rainfall shows no signs of abating. The authorities are on high alert, preparing for potential emergency responses to safeguard the affected communities.
