Heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai and its adjoining areas since last night.

The weather bureau has said that heavy rain is likely to occur in the city and suburbs with very heavy falls in the next 24 hours. Mumbaikars yesterday woke up to heavy rains, ending a long dry spell. However, a few hours of incessant showers left the financial capital struggling with the familiar monsoon woes of water logging, delayed trains, traffic jams and choked drains.

Anupam Kashyapi, head of the weather department, IMD said heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Konkan region and neighbouring Goa till July 2, and widespread rainfall in central Maharashtra and Marathwada. He said Vidarbha will get light to moderate rain till July 1.
