Dhaka: The India-Bangladesh 50 Start-up Exchange Programme was initiated earlier this month when the first 10 start-ups from Bangladesh visited India for a 5-day tour, to understand and learn from the Indian start-up ecosystem. These Start-ups from Bangladesh belong to sectors such as e-commerce, health, transport and logistics, energy, education and skill development.

These entrepreneurs were introduced to the ‘Start-up India’ initiative during their visit. They also participated in interactive sessions focused on establishing a Start-up, business model creation, role of incubator, marketing of projects & services, cyber security & artificial intelligence including data protection, start-up evaluation and methods to secure funding.

On their return from India, an interactive session was organised with India’s High Commissioner in Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, on Sunday. The High Commission in Sri Lanka stated in a release, “During the interactive session, the Start-ups outlined the utility of these entrepreneurial exchanges and expressed appreciation for the opportunity this exchange provided them to understand the Indian Start-up ecosystem.”

High Commissioner in his remarks, highlighted the vibrant start-up ecosystems in both India and Bangladesh based on their growing emphasis on innovation and technology. He also underlined the potential for the Bangladeshi Start-ups to tap into the Indian markets, especially in the North-Eastern states of India, as New Delhi and Dhaka explore further ways to enhance ease of doing business, including trade settlement in local currencies and collaboration in digital payment platforms.

As this programme proceeds forward 40 more Start-ups from Bangladesh and 50 Start-ups from India will exchange visits to each other’s countries for exploring partnerships, expanding business relations, sharing experience & knowledge and expanding youth & entrepreneurial cooperation.
