Indian Navy Football Team ready to find in Durand Cup

The Indian Navy football team based in Kochi has been performing exceedingly well in the past few years and is highly motivated for the running Durand Cup. They have participated in various competitions and their achievements have been mention below:

  1. Current champion of Kerala Premiere League. In this competition  the team  beat Kerala Blasters (an ISL team) and Gokulam FC (an I – league team).
  2. Three times Inter-Services champions (2013, 2015, & 2016).
  3. Twice winner of All India GV Raja tournament in the years  2016 & 2017.
  4. Runners up of last year (2018) Services Championship.
  5. Winner of Independence Cup at Mumbai in 2017.
  6. Runners up Nadkarni cup at Mumbai in 2017.

The team has some celebrity players whose performance in the past few years have been notable. Vishu VK was awarded the best goal keeper in the Kerala Premiere League. Nine players from the Navy team were in the Services team that  won the last Santosh Trophy National Championship (Apr 2018). Nikhil Poojari is a player in ISL team, Pune FC.

Six players from the Navy team are playing in I-League clubs  Real Kashmir, Mohun Bagan, East Bengal and Minerva Punjab. Players Bhaskar Roy & Sreeyas VG have participated in Asian Football Confederation Cup 2018 held in Nepal and Russia.

The Navy team has earlier participated In the Durand Cup and has shown remarkable performance. In 2003 the team reached semi finals, but lost to ONGC.
