Indian Prime Minister raised concern regarding security of Indian diaspora

PM Modi raised his concern over violence against Indian diaspora in London with the British PM. Boris Johnson have assured all necessary steps to ensure the safety of Indian nationals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday had a telephonic conversation with his British counterpart Boris Johnson. During the conversation, he raised the issue of violence against members of the Indian diaspora celebrating Independence Day outside the Indian Mission in London.

A violent clash took place outside the Indian High Commission when thousands of people assimilated there for pre-planned protests and counterdemonstrations on the 15th of August.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the PM drew Johnson’s attention towards the challenges posed by vested interests pursuing their motivated agenda through violent means.  Check if the release is available, add it too

The statement said, Prime Minister Johnson regretted the incident and have assured that all necessary actions will be taken to ensure the safety and security of the High Commission, its personnel and visitors. 

During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi also pointed out that the world is plagued with terrorism including all parts of India and Europe. He stressed the importance of effective steps toward the threats posed by radicalisation and violence. 

 Modi congratulated Mr. Johnson on his election to the High Office and have expressed his readiness to work with him for strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the United Kingdom.

Mr. Johnson also congratulated Modi on the latter’s emphatic electoral victory for the second term in his office.
