The purpose of the training was to provide the necessary policy guidance for industrial development in the state.
Kohima: Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland is organizing a two-day training programme on Development of Experts in Nagaland from 27th – 28th June in lead partnership with Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in Kohima.
The purpose of the training was to provide the necessary policy guidance for industrial development in the state. It also explores and formulates technically feasible and economically viable industrial programs and projects.
At the inaugural session, Director of Industries & Commerce, K. Hokishe Assumi mentioned the importance of coordination amongst line departments in order to promote export of produce on a large scale. He urged the participants to encourage the growers and motivate the entrepreneurs to develop on a large scale so that they can export their produce outside the state. He urged the participants especially the officers to come forward and help the public so that they can live a better life.
The department has been implementing many developmental programs, activities and schemes in order to create more self-employment avenues on the small scale and tiny and cottage industries sector.
The targeted participants comprise of representatives from various allied government departments like Industries & Commerce, Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Land Resources, Sericulture, Nagaland Honey Mission, Nagaland BioResources Mission etc.
The training is focused to familiarise and impart knowledge and methods involved in the domain of export products with an overarching goal for the participants/ trainers to learn and further assist and guide progressive farmers and prospective entrepreneurs to increase the level of export in the state.
Professor & Head, Management Development Programme Division, IIFT, Kolkata, Dr. Gautam Kumar Dutta gave a lecture on “How to start Export Business, Export Finance, Letter of Credit, International marketing of products (E-Commerce) while Assistant Director, Spices Board, Itanagar, Anan Debbarma spoke on ” Role of Spices Board in export of spices, procedure for export of Spices, mandatory sampling and testing.
