Integrated Management of Public Distribution System launched at Dimapur

In line with the central government’s new scheme called Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS) which was announced to effect from 1st April 2018 for implementation in all states and Union Territories during the year 2018-2019. 

Though Nagaland received the first instalment in the month of February this year and the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Temjen Toy, officially could launch the Integrated Management of Public Distribution System (IM-PDS) on 9thMay at Dimapur town.

Chief Secretary stated that to launch the scheme was a pleasure for him since an end to end computerization is going to ensure beneficiaries get what he or she supposed to get and also will ensure transparency of the department. He was optimistic that the department will rise up against all suspicions. He also congratulated the Department led by Commissioner & Secretary for successful launching of IM-PDS.

Director, Food & Civil Supplies,  Asangla Imti,  gave a brief report and said that the objective of this scheme is to introduce nationwide portability of ration cards as next level of reforms in PDS all over the country. The new scheme will bring more transparency and efficiency in distribution of foodgrains and improve the mechanism to identify false and duplicate ration cards.
