Imphal : Representatives of all religious/faiths and spiritual communities in Manipur stand together to express their pains and anguish on the ongoing destructive violence that has caused extreme human suffering on all sides.

In a statement, Interfaith Forum For Peace And Harmony (IFPH), Manipur stated that ‘we gather our courage from our shared moral and social responsibilities towards the present and future generations to humbly appeal all who are engaged in armed confrontations to cease all retaliatory acts of violence’.

Violence is destroying humanity and so it must end for humanity to survive for future generations. If the end of wars and violence is peace on one side or untold sufferings on both sides, why not choose peaceful means to achieve peace on all sides!, it echoed through their written statements circulated to the media.

Further, it advises that ‘it is high time to create a safe and secure environment for all to work together in finding peaceful solutions by using peaceful means. Manipur has a history of creating composite culture while maintaining diverse identities to coexist. As a multi-ethnic/religious society, every ethnic/religious community must find a space for peaceful coexistence by peaceful means.

We stand together and pray for all the victims of this violence and humbly appeal to all concerns including state and non-state parties to immediately stop the ongoing violence and create a safe space for dialogue processes to take place by involving all stakeholders in the state to find the peace we all seek.
