Diphu: Moon Engtipi and Simeon Terang were arrested by Diphu police on Wednesday here; after a complaint was lodged against them by one of their victims in the cash-for-job scam.

The two were produced in the district judicial court here. A case has been registered against them under Diphu police station case No. 56/23 under section 406/420/34 of IPC.

Engtipi is the former district secretary of ST Morcha, BJP-East Karbi Anglong district.

Briefing mediapersons at Diphu police station, Officer-in-charge JS Khobung said, “On Wednesday last (May 24) an FIR was lodged against Moon Engtipi and Simeon Terang by Sadhin Killing of Howraghat for taking money from him.”

From 2020 to 2023, the duo collected money from different persons by promising government jobs in return. Both Terang and Engtipi have been sent to court, the O/c informed.
