The Supreme Court will once again reach its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges, including the chief justice
NEW DELHI : Justice N Kotiswar Singh, hailing from Manipur, has been elevated to the position of judge of the Supreme Court of India on Tuesday (July 16). This announcement was made by union law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.
With Justice Singh’s appointment, the Supreme Court will once again reach its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges, including the chief justice. Justice N Kotiswar Singh, previously the chief justice of the Jammu and Kashmir high court, has made history as the first individual from Manipur to be appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name on July 11.
