In a shocking incident a woman lost her girl child while delivering inside a motor boat at Karang on the 18th of December while she was being taken to Bishenpur Community Health centre in Manipur for her delivery and now admitted for further treatment to the said centre.
Talking to KRC Times Salam Kheda who is the secreatry of Karang Island Motorboat Association expressed that due to the wind most of the Phumdis have started clogging the passes for all commuters. At present villagers are struggling to bring in basic commodities. Karang Island Development also urged the present Government and concern authority to look into the matter and has also appealed Manipur High court to fasten the ongoing process of Phumdi cleaning. Phumdis are a series of floating islands, exclusive to the Loktak Lake in Manipur state, in northeastern India. They cover a substantial part of the lake area and are heterogeneous masses of vegetation, soil and organic matter, in different stages of decay.
The people of Karang have appealed to the concern civil society organisation not to make any kind of destruction nor distrupt while the said road is being constructed.
At presnt Karang has 1400 electoral roll with 3000 people inhabits in this two beautiful island.
One of the locals expressed that they have just one teacher from Karang. Rest of them hardly visits their school, as told to our Correspondent. The condition of the toilets are in bad shape.
The people of Karang Island Development Authority have asked for an inland transportation at the earliest which could solve most of thier problems.
