Diphu : The Department of Agriculture, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council organized an awareness meeting at Long – E -Luboi village under Chinthong I.T.D.P, West Karbi Anglong District to comprehend ‘Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Per Drop More Crop on Friday last.

The meet was primarily targeted to provide aspects of the scheme to the farmers. The Agriculture Development Officers explained the benefits of the method to the progressive farmers. This central government sponsored scheme is planned to make optimum utilization of irrigation facilities in agriculture; solution on source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities.

In the meeting session, the farmers were trained on orange cultivation of local variety and process of prevention from insect and pest infestation of their orange plant; Agriculture Development Officer of Chinthong Biraj Kalita practically led the training session.  

Soil testing to help optimize crop production, protection of the environment from contamination by runoff and discharge of excess fertilizers and to aid in the diagnosis of plant culture problems were also part of the curriculum. The Departmental officers explained about the benefits of making the Soil Health Card to the farmers.
