Police recovered seventy four bags of prohibited dehydrated Burmese areca nuts beneath the load of bricks
Diphu : Bokajan police while conducting routine check in national highway 39 held a truck coming from the direction of Dimapur, Nagaland yesterday during wee hours and recovered huge quantities of Burmese areca nuts.
The truck which was laden with bricks was taken to Bokajan police station and the bricks were unloaded. Police recovered seventy four bags of prohibited dehydrated Burmese areca nuts beneath the load of bricks.
Police have informed that the truck bearing the registration number ‘PB65AX744’, was smuggling Burmese areca nuts under the swathe of building materials, 74 bags containing 5066.28 kg of Burmese areca nuts were recovered.
Police have arrested four persons, counting the driver and helper of the truck. They have been identified as Amrinder Singh, Manoj Singh, Md. Riaj Uddin and Md. Haron Ali.
Amrinder Singh is a resident of Khabra in Punjab’s Rupnagar district, Manoj Singh is a resident of Garolia, Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib District. Md. Riaj Uddin and Md. Haron Ali is a resident of Kapali Gaon and Bajimari locality of Darrang district Assam.
