According to an unsubstantiated source, it is learned that Dimasa National Liberation Army’ may lay down their arms at Khepre of Maibong subdivision, of Dimahasao autonomous district ceremoniously on 13 Nov.

The cadres of the outfit will start getting collected around Dautehaja, Langting, Mupa, Dhansiri reserve forest. The Assam government has already decided not to take any action against the cadres of DNLA who are coming overground. The decision has been taken in accordance with the ceasefire agreement proposed by them.

It may be mentioned here that After intermingling of the six rebel outfits with the mainstream through the September 4 peace accord the last gun toting rebel organization ‘Dimasa National Liberation Army’ surfaced over-ground in the month of September 2021 with a peace proposal; generating a feeling that the hills of Assam, as of now will now be a place with zero existence of any ultra outfit.

The Dimasa National Liberation Army’ after declaring unilateral ceasefire for six months on September 7, three apex leaders of the outfit spectacularly surfaced before Assam cabinet minister for Education, Ronoj Pegu with the proposal of peace parley grandly in their native village Daugifung located within the general area of Dhansiri.

Itika Difusa Chairman, General Secretary Pritomjit Jickdung, Deputy Commander in Chief Judison Haflongbar of Dimasa National Liberation Army was welcomed traditionally by Additional Director General of Assam Police G.P Sing, Minister Ronoj Pegu and Hiran Nath.

Itika Difusa, Chairman of the organization later told the media that around 309 armed cadres of Dimasa National Liberation Army will surrender before the authority after observing the sincerity of the Assam government.

It may be brought up here that Dimasa National Liberation Army was raised in 2016 but the outfit mostly remained passive except for inflicting some patchy hostility but on August 24 the cadres of the outfit unleashed a cruel episode by liquefying five truckers and a blazing number of loaded trucks in Dyangmukh area of Dima Hasao district principally to draw the attention of the Assam government.

After the incident, the Assam government responded with identical intensity; amid the mounting pressure of the security forces, Dimasa National Liberation Army’s Publicity Secretary Mungsri Ringsmai Dimasa through a press release issued on September 7 declared a unilateral ceasefire for six months.
