Diphu :   Continuing with the offensive against drugs smuggling, Karbi Anglong police seized a considerable quantity of heroin today morning around 9:30 am, at Khakrajan police checkpoint of Barpathar police station, Bokajan subdivision.

 According to police a Tata Yodha XUV bearing registration number AS15 AC 5442 was stopped at the police check gate and the police team rummaged around the vehicle. During a methodical search of the vehicle, a total of fifty four soap cases containing heroin was discovered from a secret chamber. Police have estimated the market value of the heroin to be around three crore rupees.

The heroin weighed 687.26 grams, which were concealed inside the console of the automobile in a customized covert compartment; the drugs were smuggled from Dimapur city of Nagaland for delivery in some place of Assam’s Barpeta district. Police have arrested Abdul Basir Bhuyan and Saficul Islam on the charge of smuggling banned narcotics under various sections of NDPS act.
