Police arrested two individuals for their involvement in the wildlife smuggling charges


Diphu : Two baby Hollock Gibbons were rescued from a goods truck which originated from Manipur by the personnel of Lahorijan Police Patrol post yesterday near the Police Patrol Post which is commanded by Dillai Police station yesterday.
Police have informed that the truck bearing registration number AS 01 PC 3927 was on its way to Nagaon and at that time the dying out species of primates were rescued by the police.
Police arrested two individuals for their involvement in the wildlife smuggling charges. The truck was loaded with garlic. The gibbons were struggling for life inside a diminutive cage in the seized truck.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Mohammad Waris and Naowa Meitei, both resident of Imphal, Manipur. The gibbons have been handed over to the forest department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. Police have begun a thorough investigation.
