The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council will receive six percent of revenue every year from APGCL
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd Today at Arboretum Hall, Diphu for the construction of a twenty four megawatt hydropower within Karbi Langpi Hydro Electric Project in the middle of Borapani River which will be known as Karbi Langpi Middle -2 Projects.
The memo was signed by Mukul Kumar Saikia, Principal Secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on behalf of the council and Kanu Kamal Bhuyan Chief General Manager signed on behalf of Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd.
During the ceremonious exchange of the document Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang, other Executive Members, and senior bureaucrats of the council were present.
The Chief General Manager of APGCL appreciated Tuliram Ronghang for his cooperation in initiating the 24 Megawatt hydroelectric project, he mentioned that Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong autonomous districts will be benefited from this project.
The agreement will remain applicable for thirty five years; the council authority will allocate 22.5 hectares of land to APGCL for the construction of a 24 Megawatt project, which will cost Rs.300 cores.
This project will generate employment for skilled youths plus grade three and four posts, one hundred and seventy one affected families will receive free power for domestic use for five years and compensation of Rs.34.09 crores.
The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council will receive six percent of revenue every year from APGCL. Kanu Kamal Bhuyan also informed that departments like Fisheries and Tourism will substantially benefit from this project.
