Diphu : Karbi Anglong police have arrested three persons and have recovered a large quantity of narcotic substance from them since yesterday. The market value of the seized drugs will be around fifteen crore and ten lakh rupees.
In separate operations under Khatkati police station area of Bokajan, police recovered five kilogram suspected brown sugar during search in police checkpoint established near C20 CRPF Camp within close proximity of Khatkati police station. Market value of the seized narcotic has been assessed to be fifteen crores.
Based on a tip off, an individual checkpoint was set up in front of C20 CRPF Camp, Bokajan. Around 3.00 PM one suspicious person was spotted disembarking from a bus with baggage; police personnel while frisking through his luggage found the packets of brown sugar.
The accused person has been identified by police as Sunil Kumar aged around fifty five years of age and resident of Bihar. The whole operation was led by Superintendent of Police, Karbi Anglong Sanjib Kumar Saikia, he was backed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarter}, local police and C20 CRPF.Earlier last night around 9.30pm two drug peddlers were apprehended with104.63 grams of suspected heroin worth around ten lakh rupees at Lahorijan police checkpoint of Bokajan subdivision bordering Nagaland in Karbi Anglong District.
The quantity of narcotics were kept concealed in nine soap cases and were hidden in the front dashboard and gear lever cover of a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 vehicle bearing registration no AS 15S 4306. Two arrested paddlers have been identified by police as Md. Nur Hussain aged around twenty four years and resident of Barpeta district of Assam and Md. Junab Ali aged around twenty seven years and resident of Baksa district of Assam.
