Karbi Anglong police achieved another amazing feat in curtailing drugs smuggling Thursday night by arresting one of the key people of the drugs syndicate and seizing a large measure of heroin worth six crore rupees from the hardcore drugs smuggler. 

The arrested villainess is well known in Lahorijan locality as Rozi Rongmei, under the authority of Khatkhati police station, close to Dimapur city of Nagaland.

After a continual successful action against drug haulage through the well-liked route of Karbi Anglong district’s Bokajan subdivision a brief lull was observed by police probably for a bigger offensive and yesterday’s action can be termed as a lethal blow.

The premeditated preparation for the action began from a lead of Barpather police station’s case (No 30/21, u/s 21 (c) NDPS act) where 723 grams of heroin was seized this year on May 25 from a paddler and this paddler’s information helped in the arrest of a linchpin.

In this operation, Bokajan police arrested one villainess Th-Paone also known as Didi, and recovered 2.125-kilogram heroin on 17th June 2021 under Khatkhati police station. Didi was one of the principal distributors of drugs in a vast area of India.

The information base of the Khatkhati police station helped police in arresting Rozi Rongmei, a middle-aged woman with immense potential of running a precarious trade. Rozi is married to Nandi Pau who also resides with her in Laharijan, Rozi and Didi are bracketed together.

The dedicated police team formed for this mission began with keeping a close watch on her house, movement, and her association. Police kept a tab on her phone, soon police discovered that she is craving for fresh and potential clients, accordingly a decoy was engaged.

A transaction was firm up with this singular purchaser to transport a fairly large amount of heroin. Convincing suspicious Rozi was a hilarious job but at the end of the day, she agreed. Yesterday night around 8.00 pm she came to deliver the valued prohibited consignment and straightaway drove inside the police trap.

Altogether 150 packets of high-quality heroin weighing around 2.15 kilograms were recovered from her possession wrapped inside blankets. One Angma Kamei of the same locality has also been taken into custody by police in this case.

The drugs confiscated are valued at seven crores in the international market. The big supply chain network with narco terror angle in the Karbi Anglong region is a subject of further investigation.
