Karbi Anglong – Training on handmade tea for women held

Diphu :  Biodiversity conservation NGO, Aaranyak arranged a two-day instruction on handmade tea preparation particularly for the Karbi women residing near the Kohora and Diffloo river valley of Karbi Anglong district of Assam, from April 20. Dr Rajkumar Gohain Baruah tea expert was the demeanor of the training held at the Community Resource Center, and Diring LP School.

Sixteen partakers attended the workshop; basically they were taught the technical process right from harvesting, processing up to the finishing stage. They learned the procedure of making hand-processed tea, green tea and orthodox tea. 

They were taught to grow and run their organic tea gardens devoid of pesticides or other chemicals for additional marketable price and health. This training covered some important components and steps of processing the tea, like quality of the tea leaves required, withering, temperature, hand rolling process, oxidation, drying process and storage.
