A peaceful co-existence is in everybody’s interest,” Dhar said
Guwahati: With a demand for early solution to the border dispute between Assam and Meghalaya a delegation of United Khasi People’s Organisation (UKPO), Karbi Anglong Central Committee met Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma and urged him to sort out this issue at the earliest.
However, the UKPO members also said that around 10 thousand Khasis who are based in West Karbi Anglong district in Assam are interested to stay in Assam itself.
At that meeting MLA from Nortiang constituency in Meghalaya Sniawabhalang Dhar was also present.
Dhar assured the visiting delegates that the government of Meghalaya will start the second phase of dialogue on boundary issues with the government of Assam very soon.
“I would like to all the Khasi organisations to take the initiative and ensure peaceful co-existence with the Karbis in Assam. A peaceful co-existence is in everybody’s interest,” Dhar said.
