In a written reply in Lok Sabha the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal stated that now onwards various authentication and clearances will be required for the Kirana shops and eateries for approvals and licensing.

In order to reduce the numbers of approvals of the eateries and kiranas sanctioned, the government have taken up the measures.

Apart from this several reformative measures have been taken further especially to minimise the number.

According to sources one of the representation has been received from the National Restaurant Association of India regarding the introduction of a single-window system for clearance of the newly functioning restaurants.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) recently, with the help of the State Reforms Action Plan hereby encouraged all the States and Union Territories to opt for an online application system for checking the approvals and renewals updates under the Shops and Establishment Act for all States.

A set of guidelines have been set up for the applicants. Online applicants need not now submit the hard copy of the application. An online payment option will be made available. There will be a transparent online tracking facility which will be visible for all.

The provision for downloading the finale certificate will be there. The physical touchpoint for document submission will be eliminated.
