Guwahati : Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has condemned the opposition’s behaviour during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha.

Rijiju stated that the Congress was allotted 3 hours and 48 minutes to speak, but they did not allow their MP to speak.

He added that when PM Modi started his speech, the Congress alleged that their Manipur MP was not given a chance to speak. Rijiju criticised the Congress for politicising a sensitive matter and suggested that they should apologise to the people of Manipur.

He expressed concern for new MPs, questioning how they will learn if they are not allowed to hear the Prime Minister’s speech. Rijiju emphasised that such behaviour is not in line with the traditions of Indian Parliamentary democracy.

On opposition raising slogans during PM Narendra Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju says, “… The opposition’s reaction during the Prime Minister’s speech is condemnable… Congress was allotted 3 hours 48 minutes to speak…

When they should have given their MP a chance to speak, they did not let him speak, and when PM Narendra Modi got up to speak, they alleged that their Manipur MP was not allowed to speak… Congress should apologise to the people of Manipur for politicising such a sensitive matter… I feel sorry for the new MPs. How will they learn? When the Prime Minister is speaking, the MPs are not being given a chance to hear what he is saying. This is not the tradition of our Indian Parliamentary democracy…”
