“The KLO’s peace talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah are at the final stage now. If everything is okay, the people will see the rising sun in the land of Kamatapur soon,” Koch said in the statement
Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Union government on its demand for the creation of a Kamatapur state soon. This was stated by KLO deputy bC-in-C Surya Koch in his New Year’s greetings to the people of the Koch Rajbongshi community on Monday.
“The KLO’s peace talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah are at the final stage now. If everything is okay, the people will see the rising sun in the land of Kamatapur soon,” Koch said in the statement.
“In this regard, we requestion our people to extend their help and cooperation to us. Moreover, we request all to keep strict vigil so that no conspirator within or outside the country can disrupt our peace parley with the government,” he added.
The KLO, which has been active in the western part of Assam and North Bengal and was once an ally of the ULFA in Bhutan and Myanmar has expressed its interest in peace talks with the government in December 2021.
The KLO was born in 1995 in an armed struggle for a separate Kamatapur carved out of the adjoining part of Assam and West Bengal.
