Kolkata’s Taxi to go on 48 hours Strike

Bad news for Kolkata commuters as from Tuesday city’s yellow taxi along with Uber and Ola will be on strike

West Bengal Taxi worker federation called for 48 hours of taxi strike within the city of joy. Not only that even cab service will be closed for Tuesday. As per the data around 35000 taxi will postpone their services due to this strike. Passengers will face harassment especially in the busy area of the city like Howrah station, Esplanade, Sealdah, etc. West Bengal cab operator also took part in this strike. One whole day cab services by Ola and Uber will be closed. Federation called for this strike to take immediate revision on seven demands related to their daily business.  Major demands include if any driver dies due to an accident while driving then the government should pay Rs 5 lakh as casualty and secure a job for his family member.

They also demanded revision on Taxi fare per meter along with waiting charges increment up to Rs 3. As per their demand Minimum taxi charge should be at least Rs 40. Another major demand of the federation is to ban Motor vehicles act 2019.
