NEWS 1 – Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud was sworn in as the country’s 50th Chief Justice. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath to him today. Taking oath as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Chandrachud said that his main goal will be to reform the justice system and provide justice to the people. He will try to see that the democratic rights of the people are established. He was already in limelight with several important judgments. His father YB Chandrachud was also the former Chief Justice of India.

NEWS 2– India has prospered so much financially today thanks to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Union Minister of Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari said this at an event in Mumbai. Manmohan Singh walked the path of a liberal economy in 1992, the country has been able to move forward today.

Gadkari said that Manmohan Singh was able to collect money to build so many bridges in Maharashtra because of his generous economic policy. This statement by Gadkari is already getting viral traction politically across the country. Gadkari, who is used to straight talks does not care much though about political implications.

NEWS 3– The Barak Democratic Front has called for a 12-hour Barak bandh on November 18 to protest against the discrimination in employment and torture of non-tribals in Shillong. A 12-hour total Barak bandh has been called from five o’clock in the morning on this day. In a press conference at Silchar Pensioners Bhavan on Wednesday,

Chief Convenor of Barak Democratic Front Pradeep Datta Roy said that the bandh was called to protest the discrimination against Barak and persecution of minorities in Shillong.

He said that the number of candidates from Barak Valley in the recently published recruitment list for third and fourth grade posts in the state government is insignificant. Apart from this, the persecution of minorities has been going on for the last 6 decades in Meghalaya, which the state government has completely failed to prevent. So this bandh has been called in protest.

NEWS 4- Assamese culture has been hit again and again. This blow is coming from a particular religious group. This comment was made by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma. He said the attack is coming not only on Assamese culture but also on the Assamese language. Even our Bihu, our newspapers are now infected. Referring to Mia Museum in this context, Chief Minister said, Mia Museum is an ominous sign. He called upon the Assamese society to beware of this.

NEWS 5- Jharna Pandey was killed not by accident said Cachar Superintendent of Police. A woman’s body was found on Kathal Road in the early hours of last Monday, although the body was not identified that day.

Later identified as Jharna Pandey the police started investigating the incident. Police arrested two people yesterday night. They are Bikram Das and Vijay Das of the Chenkuri area. Superintendent of Police Numal Mahata said the day of the incident was Sunday.

On that day, Jharna Pandey Vikram Das and Vijay Das went to the bypass area in an auto and drank alcohol. Later, a fight broke out between them, while coming from the bypass, Jharna was pushed from the auto in front of the moving car. Jharna was killed by a car at that time. She was killed in such a way that it appears to be an accident. After investigation, the police arrested the two.

NEWS 6 -A youth fell into the river while riding his bicycle over a railway bridge in the Silchar Majumdar Bazar area. By profession, he is a mason name Abdul Manab son of Moin Uddin Ali of Masimpur Part 2. He fell with his bicycle from the railway bridge above the Barak River near Majumdar Bazar. Despite efforts to search him no trace of him was found. Search is on by the SDRF.

NEWS 7- The simple village people who come to Baram Baba’s fair in the Cachar district of Assam near Silchar are robbed by illegal lottery games. The three-day fair of Silkuri Baram Baba has many lottery stalls along with other shops. Some of the people who come to visit the fair are suffering financial losses by falling into the trap of various temptations. The conscious people of the area are worried about lottery gambling at the fair. They asked who allowed the lottery stalls to be set up at the fair.
