Kuki-Zo community continues to abstain from voting in second phase polls

The Kuki-Zo populace in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District continued to “abstain” from voting during the second phase Lok Sabha Polls in the district at various polling stations under its neighbouring Senapati District

The Kuki-Zo populace in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District continued to “abstain” from voting during the second phase Lok Sabha Polls in the district at various polling stations under its neighbouring Senapati District.

Sadar Hills Kangpokpi’s neighbouring district, Senapati goes to Lok Sabha Polls in the second phase along with a few other districts, such,

Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Kamjong, Noney, and Pherzawl.

Even though Sadar Hills Kangpokpi district has already completed its voting in the first phase, a few pockets of Kuki-Zo villages in the District falls under Karong Assembly Constituency and Tadubi Assembly Constituency under Senapati District.

No votes were cast by the Kuki-Zo community in the polling stations which falls under their dominated areas in Senapati District as they chose to abstain from voting adhering to the directive of the Kuki’s apex body in line with the unified decision of Kuki-Zo civil society organisations.

However, voters from other communities exercise their franchise rights peacefully without any hindrance .

The Kuki-Zo populace in Sadar Hills Kangpokpi District had totally abstained from voting in the first phase poll as well.
