In a major development for the tourism industry in the Dima Hasao district, the NC Hill Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa inaugurated the newly discovered Lungkip cave at 16 kilo area in Umrongso and kick-started Jetski ride at NEEPCO water reservoir lake near Umrongso Golf course for visitors on Sunday.

The Jetski ride has been introduced for the first time in the district, which will soon be available for service with trained operators.

The CEM was accompanied by NCHAC Executive Members Manjit Naiding, Samsing Engti, MAC Rupali Langthasa, MAC Pronath Rajiyung, Dima Hasao Tourism Chairman Nijelal Khelma, Deputy director of Tourism Nirmendu Kemprai and other dignitaries.

Addressing the media CEM Gorlosa said that the council is committed towards the development of Dima Hasao in every aspect and said that the district will be converted into one of the best tourist destinations in the near future. Considering the natural beauty of Umrongso the CEM said that a five-star hotel will be constructed and emphasized the promotion of homestay in Tumbung village of Umrongso to boost local economy.

Chairman Khelma said that the tourism department is focusing on promoting Umrongso as a water sports hub like Bali in Indonesia.  Praising the initiatives of the CEM for introducing such sports activity, he said that it will also generate employment for local youths.
