Gupta took a swipe at foreign militants and he alleged that they were probably supported by the local drug peddlers. “This issue should be thoroughly investigated by NIA,” said the ABHM Northeast president
Silchar: Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM)’s president for Assam and the Northeast Biswadeep Gupta, on Monday appealed to the state government to collect details of the refugees coming from violence-hit Manipur to Cachar following unrest in that state and make necessary arrangements so that the refugees are repatriated to Manipur.
He said it will be a big problem for Assam if the refugees settle permanently in Cachar and thus it has become important that all the refugees are identified and sent back to their state. Those sheltering the refugees should encourage them to go back to their own state and live peacefully, he said.
He said incidents of insurgency and other illegal activities have been reported in Manipur and such a scenario may develop here if steps are not taken timely to deport these refugees from the state.
“I strongly appeal to the Assam Government to identify and record the number of refugees coming from Manipur to Cachar districts. These refugees cannot be kept for long and should be deported to their respective places at the earliest,” Gupta said.
“Are we recording their identities? What will happen if they settle down in Assam? Those who are sheltering them should encourage them to go back to their own state and live peacefully and co-exist,” Gupta added further.
Moreover, ABHM leader also expressed his concerns regarding the banned militant outfits supported by cross border terror importers who he accused of running drug rackets in Manipur.
“We cannot allow our society to be destroyed by this group of people and so they will have to be deported. We have already lost 6 Assam Police personnel in the 2021 border encroachment and clash with Mizoram where our cops were outnumbered by Mizoram police. Now question arises whether any outside militant group was behind that attack,” Gupta asked.
