Imphal : Unknown gunmen shot dead a man and police recovered the body of the slain person and placed it at the morgue of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal on Monday.
The body of the bullet-riddled individual was recovered at a pond at the Sekmaijing Maning Leikai under the Hiyanglam police station in Manipur’s Kakching district at around 5 a.m. on Monday, the police said. The body was found with triple bullet holes and bruised marks on his back parts. A tattoo was also found on his right arm, the police said.
Yumlembam Mina, Vice President of the Sekamijing Maning Leikai Mera Paibi, said that the man might have been shot dead at another place and his body was dumped in the pond in her locality in the early hours of Monday. Y Mina said that as of 1 a.m. on Monday, the Meira Paibis had not heard any gunshot in her locality. She also condemned the cowardly acts of the armed men and condemned such heinous crimes.
She also appealed to the people not to happen to such unwanted incidents in her locality in the future.Meanwhile, police sought the help of the people in identifying the body of the killed man lying at the hospital morgue for post-mortem.
