Imphal : One 9mm pistol, eight grenades, one Radio Set, ammunition, and other warlike stores were recovered when a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation in the general area of Kamu Ridge, Thoubal district of Manipur.

The operation was launched during the past 24 hours, a defense wing press statement said here on Wednesday. In the follow-up action of the joint team that was launched in the general area NongpokSekmai in Thoubal district, a total of 3 launcher rifle grenades and ammunition were recovered, the statement added.

The operations have been conducted against the backdrop of killing and counter-killings in the ethnic violence between the two communities – the Kukis and Meiteis that started on May 3. Over 150 individuals lost their lives in the communal carnage so far.
