First priority to schools and colleges in border Tehsils/ taluks of Manipur
In a major development, 1720 NCC girl cadets vacancies have been released for Manipur by up-gradation of 65 Manipur Girls Company NCC to a full-fledged 65 Manipur Girls Battalion NCC.
Expressing satisfaction at this development, Brigadier RS Sethi, Group Commander NCC Group Imphal informed that the primary aim of this expansion is to provide NCC to all eligible schools and colleges in Tehsils/ Taluks having land borders with neighbouring countries.
The school or college desirous of having NCC must have a minimum strength of 500 students. It should have adequate space for conducting NCC training and be willing to provide an Associate NCC officer plus one room for NCC office/store.
For Institutional and Camp Training to all educational institutions gave vacancies under this scheme, 100% central government funding will be provided. All private institutions allotted NCC under this scheme will be treated as Government institutions for the purpose of funding NCC activities.
In addition, all educational institutions allotted NCC under this scheme will be given a sterile period of three years to build-up training infrastructure.
Schools and Colleges desirous of getting NCC may contact Officer Commanding 65 Girls Company at NCC Group HQ complex at DM College Campus, Thangmeiband, Imphal West.
Details of this expansion and application forms for schools and colleges have been sent to Departments of Education (S) and (U) to enable desirous schools and colleges to apply and derive benefits of NCC for their students. All criteria being met, the vacancies shall be allotted on a first come first serve basis.
