The injured shifted to the hospital while the gunfights going on

Imphal :A jawan of the India Reserved Battalion (IRB) and two civilians who sustained bullet injuries in an ongoing gunfight at Leingangkhul/Naransena near the interdistricts of the Bishnupur and Churachandpur have been shifted to a hospital at Imphal.

They were brought to the Raj Medicity for treatment while the firefight was going on, the hospital sources said here on Wednesday.

The intermittent gun fights between the suspected armed Kuki miscreants and village volunteers of the Meiteis which started at 6 a.m. on Tuesday are still continuing, the police said. The miscreants attacked and hurled local-made bombs that exploded at around 2.14 pm on Wednesday near the 2nd IRB camp stationed at Naransena village in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

One IRB personnel and two civilians got injuries when they were hit by the splinters of the bombs. The injured were rushed to the Raj Medicity, Imphal for medical treatment. It is worth mentioning that on Tuesday, two persons – one Kuki and another Meitei lost their lives and 8 others were injured in the intermittent gun fights in the same areas. In the ongoing ethnic violence between the two communities over 150 individuals lost their lives so far.
