Imphal : In a joint operation launched by the Assam Rifles and Manipur police, a total of 4 pistols and a revolver with ammunition were recovered on Tuesday, an official statement said on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip  Assam Rifles in conjunction with Manipur Police launched a joint operation wherein 04 Pistols and a 01x.22 revolver (with six rounds) were recovered from Pangei Nepali Basti Foothill of Marjing Hill range, Imphal East district of Manipur on Tuesday. The seized weapons were handed over to Heingang Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The recovery of the small arms and ammunition has come at a time when there was a report of shooting and injuring a man by unknown gunmen at Khekman Thongkhong under Thoubal police station.  Md Hesamuddin (40) of Kwakta Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district received a bullet injury on his right calf. He is undergoing treatment at Noor Hospital in Lilong.
