Imphal: In a function held on Friday at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai in Imphal, the Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association felicitated the cyclists of the state who represented Manipur in the 19th National MTB Championship.

The championship was held in Panchkula, Haryana from 28th to 30th March, 2023 and in the national championship, Master Thotmachan Awungshi won silver and bronze in sub junior boys XCO mass start and time trial respectively.

The lone lady cyclist, Haomom Urbashi Devi finished first in the women elite Down Hill and she is selected for the forthcoming Asian Championship. She will be representing India in the international cycling event.

It may be mentioned that Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association conducted a trial selection for the championship on 18th March, 2023 at Awaching, Imphal East. The association sponsored the team jersey and travel
expenditure of the team coach.

Further, financial assistance of a sum of ten thousand was given to the lone lady cyclist by the association. In the function the president stressed the need for support and assistance from the state to groom more athletes to represent Manipur in national and International MTB competitions.
