The All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union (AJWJU), Jiribam District observed its 20th Foundation Day today at Raja Ram Mohan Roy Library hall, Jiribam.

The celebration was graced by M. Mubi Singh, Superintendent of Police, Jiribam as Chief Guest while Ngathem Biswajit Singh, President, All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union as functional President and Sarat Thokchom, Advisor, All Jiribam Working Journalists’ Union shared the dais as the guest of honour.

Unlike every year, this year the foundation day function was observed simply with the attendance of few invitees from the civil Society Organisations of Jiribam due to crises of COVID-19 pandemic.

The welcome and keynote address of the function was delivered by Atom Lukhoi Singh, General Secy AJWJU.

In his speech, Atom Lukhoi Singh has highlighted the pivotal roles of journalists and added that due to fewer numbers of media persons in Jiribam District, they faced many difficulties to provide media coverage in various places of Jiribam simultaneously. He also sought the cooperation of CSOs of Jiribam.

On the speech of Chief Guest, M. Mubi Singh emphasized the pivotal role of journalists in this 21st century to help develop a better society, he also encouraged the media fraternities of Jiribam for their tremendous work is done to bring the news and views in the light of people.  He also assured to extend all possible help for the development of Journalists Union of Jiribam.

On the presidential speech, Ngathem Biswajit Singh said the newly constructed All Jiribam Working Journalists Union office will be accomplished as soon as earliest and will inaugurate soon. He added, sometimes there is a misunderstanding between journalists and people due to lack of communication.  

He also sought cooperation from the people for the smooth functioning of AJWJU.
