Manipur: Arms and ammunition retrieved in special operations

Imphal: A cache of arms, ammunition, and hand grenades was retrieved in a massive search operation in the southern part of Manipur on Monday morning, official sources said. The operation was launched by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Assam Rifles and Manipur police after a bomb was recovered at the counter of a private hospital in Imphal West district. One SLR, seven SLR magazines, one anti-riot gun, and one hand grenade were recovered from Khoirom Laijing near the hand pump under the Yairipok police station.

In another operation in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Imphal-East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Churachandpur districts one arm and 10 explosives were recovered from Imphal-East district, a police report said. The seized items have been handed over to the concerned Police Stations.

Police said that on Sunday afternoon, a bomb recovered from the counter of Iboyaima Hospital and Research Centre Centre at Singjamei Chingamathak Chongtham Leikai in Imphal was subsequently diffused by the Manipur police bomb disposal squad.
