Imphal : At least two persons belonging to different armed groups lost their lives at different clashes and firing incidents along the interdistricts of Kakching and Tengnoupal on Friday.
A total of 11 persons including security personnel and 3 commandos of the Manipur police sustained bullet injuries and around 80 persons mostly women also injured when police and Assam Rifles resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse hundreds of people who tried to remove barricades of the security forces at Pallel and Molnom villages on the NH 02 connecting Imphal to Moreh.

One person namely Y Jiten, (30) a Meitei died on the spot when the AR opened fire to disperse the crowds while one Paogulin Kuki, 28, a resident of Chakpikarong died in the gunfights between the two warring communities.
A Lieutenant Colonel of the Assam Rifles Raman Tiwari was among the 11 persons who sustained bullet injuries in the incidents. Raman Tiwari was airlifted from Pallel to Leimakhong Military Hospital about 19 km from Imphal.
People who got injuries in the tear gas shell firings were given treatments at the Jivan hospital, Kakching district.
In the communal violence that erupted on May 3 between the Meiteis and Kukis over 160 persons lost their lives.
