One SBI ATM Booth located near Bheigo Saw Mill, Andro Parking, Imphal East, was damaged /vandalized by some unknown miscreants with an intent to steal money and was reported today early morning at around 6 am.

 Police teams of Imphal East District Police rushed to the spot and inspected the scene as soon as the information received.  It was found on inspection, one LPG cylinder and one Oxygen Cylinder along with cutting torch at the spot and the same was seized by the police. However, the unknown miscreants were unsuccessful in their attempt to commit the crime due to the frequent Police patrolling during the night time.

It is believed that they had run away leaving behind the equipment used to commit the crime once they saw the patrol team at around 12.50 AM to 1.22 AM.

It is learnt from the General Manager, SBI (RBO), who visited the spot, that the ATM machine contained an amount of Rs.16,90,000/- (Sixteen Lakhs Ninety thousand) only and none of this money was stolen from the ATM Booth. During further investigation, two accused person namely Asem Rojit (29)years S/o (L) A. Norendro Singh of Palace Compound and Seram Bikram (20) years  S/o S. Boson of Pukhao Naharup A/P Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai were arrested and One Maruti Van bearing Regd. No. AS01A/5662 was also seized

A suo-motu case under FIR. No. 127(07)2020 PRT-PS U/S IPC 380/456/34 was registered for investigation.
