BJP state president condemns excesses of law enforcing agencies in Manipur
A three-story building of the BJP, Khongjom Mandal Office, in Manipur’s Thoubal district was set on fire by the irate mob at Khongjom in the southern part of Manipur on Wednesday.
The BJP is the chief partner of Chief Minister N Biren Singh-led government in Manipur. The irate mob set the building on fire as a part of the protests against the government’s failure to take positive actions against the killers who had killed two students. The building was reduced to ashes. Two fire tenders from the Thoubal district headquarters rushed to the spot to save the building to a certain extent but the mobs blocked the road towards the building. The incident happened at around 3 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, the State BJP unit president Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi told a press conference that the excessive action of the State and Central security forces in controlling the protests in the state is not justified.
She appealed to law enforcement agencies to act within the limit of the law to control protest agitators and act accordingly knowing the sentiments of the people and students. The Central Security Forces as well as the State Security force should discharge their duties irrespective of hill and valley, she added. Sharda condemned the brutal murder of two students by suspected Kuki militants.
